My brain says it’s summer, yet the TV commercials and children who live in my neighborhood say it’s time to go back to school! This makes for busy days and less time to prepare healthy dinners for your family. Between homework and extracurricular activities, life can get a little crazy. Never fear! I’ve got you covered with this quick and easy, Tangerine Hatch Chile Asian Glazed Shrimp! The best part about this meal, aside from being incredibly easy to get on the table, is that it’s made with Tangerine Hatch Chile Not Ketchup. Not Ketchup is a line of gourmet dipping sauces, made by hand, in small-batches, right here in Southern California.
I love it when things are local!

Not Ketchup sauces are tangy, all natural (certified paleo-friendly) made from ripe seasonal fruit instead of tomatoes – kind of like fruit ketchups. They’re not sweet like jam: Not Ketchup sauces have lots of vinegar and secret spice blends that combine with the fruits for total deliciousness in a bottle.*

The Tangerine Hatch Chile Not Ketchup is the newest in Not Ketchups line of No-Sugar Added sauces. This is a dinner you can feel good about feeding your family!

A sweet and spicy, quick weeknight meal using Hatch Chiles and Tangerine Hatch Chile Not Ketchup dipping sauce.

  • 1 cup Tangerine Hatch Chile Not Ketchup dipping sauce
  • 2 tablespoons finely diced, fresh-roasted Hatch Chiles
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon honey (or more -depending on taste)
  • 1 lb. large shrimp (31/35 count per pound)
  • 1 tablespoon sliced green onions (green parts only)
  • Sesame Seeds (optional)
  • 2 cups cooked short-grain white rice

Cook rice according to package directions.

While rice is cooking, place Tangerine Hatch Chile Not Ketchup dipping sauce, hatch chiles, soy sauce, water and honey in a medium sauce pan.

Bring mixture to a boil and gently simmer until the sauce has reduced and has thickened slightly - about 5 minutes.

Meanwhile, bring a large saucepan filled with lightly salted water to boiling.

Add the shrimp to the boiling water.

Cook for 1 to 3 minutes or until the shrimp are pink and opaque.

Drain and rinse shrimp in a colander under cold running water.

Place shrimp in a clean bowl and pour 1/2 cup of the cooked sauce over them. Toss gently to coat.

Serve shrimp over a bed of hot rice and top with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.

Drizzle more sauce over the top for extra spicy flavor! I added some tangerine segments from fruit I had in my kitchen too. The lovely burst of fresh juice with the sauce is delightful!
