Do you remember the Peachy Almond Ginger Ice Cream I made this summer?
I entered the recipe in Rodelle Vanilla‘s Great American Ice Cream Challenge contest and I won! Can you believe it? My FIRST entry in a cooking contest and I won!! That is very exciting! I was setting up my classroom when I got the news. I screamed, then cried! Thankfully none of my students were there yet. I might have scared them!
Do you know what’s MORE exciting?? Winning the ice cream contest qualified me as a competitor in the dessert category of the World Food Championships!!
I’M GOING TO COMPETE IN LAS VEGAS! I didn’t even know the Great American Ice Cream Challenge was a qualifying event! Talk about a shock. I can barely talk about it now and it’s been two days! I was also in my classroom when I got the email about becoming a competitor. I couldn’t scream, because it was nap time, but I screamed inside and let me tell you, it was LOUD!
Nothing like having your first competitive cooking contest be The World Food Championships! HOLY COW! I mean, really? Who does that? Apparently, THIS Imperfect Kitchen does!
The weekend has been a whirlwind of “Pinch me, I can’t believe it!!” to “What am I doing? I can’t do this…” to “Oh MY gosh!! I’m going to VEGAS!!” There were plenty of other phrases, but you know, it’s a family blog, so I’m going to keep it clean! I will say this: SQUEEEEEE!!!!!!!!
I can’t wait to share this incredible adventure with all of you!!! Please understand if there are gaps in my posting over the next two months. I’ll be busy trying recipes, forcing my family, friends and co-workers to be taste-testers and praying my nerves calm down a bit before Vegas. (They totally won’t, but you get that, right?)
