Hi friends!
If you’ve followed my blog for any length of time at all, you know I’m a huge supporter of No Kid Hungry and I’m very proud to be part of their blogger team!

Summer vacations have started here in Southern California. A lot of kids are excited to be out of school! They are busy splashing in pools, playing with friends and riding their bikes around the neighborhood! Did you know, for some kids though, summer is the worst time of year? Many children who rely on school meals struggle to get enough to eat during the summer months. The free breakfasts and lunches they get when class is in session, ends when the school year ends. Can you imagine the joy of childhood summers marred with worry over when you might get your next meal? 1 in 5 children in America struggles with hunger every day. It’s worse during the summer. There has to be a better way to get food to the kids who so desperately need it!
Thankfully, there are people working hard to making a difference. Chefs from all across the country are participating in No Kid Hungry’s Chef Cycle. Chefs are getting on their bikes and riding for three days (up to 300 miles!) to raise money and help #savesummer for millions of kids! Nearly 50 chefs and restaurant professionals from all across the country will be riding from either New York City to Washington DC June 7th – 9th or from Santa Barbara to San Diego June 14th – 16th! And you can follow their progress on Facebook and Twitter!
Won’t you please consider helping too? If you pledged a dollar to support your favorite Chef on their ride, you’d be providing 10 meals for hungry children. One dollar = 10 meals. Imagine the impact you could have by donating a dollar a mile?! We could potentially feed thousands of kids this summer! Can’t afford a dollar a mile? Then, please consider donating the cost of one meal (just one meal!) during the week for you and your family. It’s simple. Take your weekly grocery bill and divide it by 21. (3 meals a day, 7 days a week equals 21 meals) If your grocery bill is $125 a week, divided by 21, that comes to $5.95. Let’s round it to $6.oo. For $6.00 you’d feed 60 kids. 60 meals. More importantly, you’d be replacing the worry over food, with wonderful memories of summer fun. Doesn’t every child deserve that much?
