We could talk about weight loss, but I’m just not in the mood. This week has made me sad. Some terrible things have happened in the world and while we know life isn’t always perfect, it should never be like this.
Stanford victim reads a letter to her attacker. It takes great strength and courage to stand up and say these things, especially to someone who caused so much damage. She should be very proud of herself. Consequently, other friends have come forward to share. Their voices together say “Me too” to the things in their lives that have brought them terror and shame. Their bravery should not go unacknowledged. One voice can make a difference and together we can change the world.
But that wasn’t all. Someone shot up a nightclub and our nation mourns the loss of lives and the senselessness of it all. Thank goodness Mini Sous is not old enough for explanations of the awful things that happened. If she were, I’d take a page from Fred Rogers, of Mr. Rogers fame, who said: “When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, “Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.” To this day, especially in times of “disaster,” I remember my mother’s words and I am always comforted by realizing that there are still so many helpers – so many caring people in this world.”
In happier news, the Pittsburgh Penguins won the Stanley Cup and they had a big parade to celebrate!
My nephew got married at the beach and we celebrated with great music, family and friends!
Fathers Day is this weekend. Still looking for a gift for Dad? Check out Amazon’s suggestions this year!
And finally, just an FYI, there won’t be a Weigh In Wednesday post next week. My husband and I are going away for a few days to celebrate our 30th Wedding Anniversary. 30 years?! So hard to imagine that much time has passed. Crazy!
I won’t be weighing in for my #Fitby50 goals next week either! Everyone knows calories don’t count when you’re on vacation and I certainly don’t intend on worrying about it for the four days we’re away or feeling guilty if I come back and have gained a pound or so.
Thanks for listening, my friends. Be a helper. Do something, anything, to make your world a brighter place this week. We could all use more joy in our lives!
MUCH LOVE to you all!
Sara~
