Divide the Chex cereal into two medium size bowls. (2½ cup in each)
In a small microwave safe bowl, melt the white almond bark (or white chocolate chips, if using.) with ½ teaspoon of shortening. Microwave 30 seconds at a time, stirring well after each time. Do this until the mixture is very smooth. It shouldn’t take more than two minutes. Watch carefully, as the bark can burn if heated too much! Carefully pour melted white chocolate in the first bowl of Chex and mix to evenly coat the cereal.
Melt the red candy melts in another microwave safe bowl (or just clean out the one you used for the white chips) following the same directions above. Once the red chips are melted, pour this over the second bowl of Chex and mix until well coated.
In two gallon size ziplock bags, place ½ cup strawberry cake mix and ¼ cup powdered sugar. Dump the red bowl of chex mix in one bag and the white bowl of chex mix in the other. Shake each bag until all the cereal is coated with the powdered sugar and strawberry powdered cake mix.
In a large bowl, mix the red and white Chex blends together. Add the pretzels and serve!
